This is probably one of the most frequently asked questions. The Minishetland pony is very sociable and friendly. With its size the ideal partner for young and old. First and foremost it is used as a beginner pony for children. But there is something for us adults as well. A mini pony, despite its size, is one of the strongest horse races in the world and can pull twice his body weight. Thus, a pony alone attracts two adults! It is, so to speak, an ideal "pet" for the whole family. Whether on walks or jogging, the Minishetty accompanies its owner eagerly at every turn. Because they learn very fast, they are the ideal partner for circus lessons. Not to forget the great therapeutic potential. They not only promote the development and personality of a toddler, but are also a great partner in any type of therapy and are even already trained as a guide blind ponies.
The wearing time at minis is eleven months like a big horse. Mostly the foals are born in the herd. The foaling time begins in March. The foals learn from the first day how to deal with the other ponies and people. Through the daily handling of the foals they learn the respect and good manners towards the people. This is an important basis for their development. The foals stay with the mother until they are six month and are weaned by her. After that, all offspring with the young animals come together on a pasture, where they continue to learn the social behavior.
Since it is a robust breed, a year-round pasture is recommended. A stall is also possible, despite their small size they need their daily run. A small shelter is enough to protect against the bright midday sun. Mini ponies are herd animals and need at least a small conspecifics. You need daily access to fresh water. A salt lick stone should also be available for free removal. Hay can be fed in summer if required.
Similar to big horses, prices also vary among mini-phones. It does not just depend on the sex, the color, the descent, the size or the success of each pony. With great care you choose a suitable stallion for the chosen broodmare. The parent animals have been presented and evaluated to an international association. As soon as the foal is born, costs arise. Regular deworming and hoof care, as well as a microchip and breeding papers are the A & O in a quality breeding. Price you have to expect between 1.500-15.000 € for such a mini. Cheap ponies are not recommended and caution is required! Mostly these ponies are sick and not wormed and even have resistant worm species which can then be introduced and infect the entire stock. Sometimes it can even lead to death. Above all, it is important that one can trace the descent back to several generations and that it is not a "mix pony". Therefore, it is recommended to buy ponies from manageable breeding, where you can also look at the parents and siblings.

All my animals are judged by trained professionals and of course have papers where the entire pedigree is evident. My breeding ponies are all registered in the studbook. For breeding purposes, only well-licensed and treatable stallions, premium stallion book or in elite stallionbook. My animals all have a perfect character, which they also pass on to the offspring.
My breeding motto is: "Class instead of mass - breeding with quality" - also come the special colors in my breeding never too short. My matings are planned in detail not only to get great colors, but also to enhance the good qualities. My foals grow up socialized in the herd with daily contact with the people. Thus, there is no shy, timid pony with me. Every foal is slowly getting used to the gentle human hand. After the offspring of the mother mare from the six month of life, the foals are supplied with a high-quality breeding cereals.
My horses have daily contact with people and are well educated. You have no bad habits. The hay is mowed in our own meadows in summer, dried and then processed into small packages for the winter.
The ponies are regularly dewormed with various preparations to prevent resistance. For this I have a special worming plan from the institute. On all pastures are the animals a salt lick stone from high-quality carpathian salt at leisure. It forms the basis for the health and fertility of the tea and supports the state of health and fitness.
The so-called "luxury consumption" the ponys use only at the beginning, if this were under-supplied for a long time and suffered from a lack of salt. Furthermore, they also get an additional high-quality mineral lick stone especially with the trace element Selen available, which is extremely important for stallions, as well as broodmares and their foals. Especially during pregnancy, the broodmares must be optimally supplied with the important minerals in order to avoid birth complications as well as possible.
